2nd Annual Run to the Beach 5K & 1 Mile Easter Egg Scramble

Portage Lakes Advisory Council (PLAC) is planning our 2nd Annual Run to the Beach 5K and 1 Mile Easter Egg Scramble fundraising event for 2018. Last year the event was attended by 350 participants. This is a great opportunity to promote your business while supporting the Portage Lakes Advisory Council.
This family friendly race is open to everyone. The course traverses Portage Lakes State Park and includes road, trail and beach running. Additionally, a 1-mile Easter Egg Scramble/Hunt will take place prior to the 5K for children under 10.
Community support is vital to the success of the Portage Lakes Advisory Council. Your sponsorship allows us further PLAC initiatives including:
- Public education, outreach, and awareness programs
- Water quality testing and repoting
- Promoting active and passive recreation on the Portage Lakes
- Collaboration with ODNR, Summit Metro Parks, local non-profits and our local governments
In 2017, PLAC expanded its annual litter pickup program. It now includes Portage Lakes State Park, East Reservoir, West Reservoir, Nimisila Reservoir, and Knapp Park with more than 100 volunteers collecting litter by land and water. We have engaged new citizen water clarity testers, and provided a public forum regarding the East Reservoir Dam Improvement Project along Portage Lakes Drive.
We are also pleased to announce that after years of lobbying, ODNR will begin a multi-year dredging program to improve navigation this spring.
